The big question: What can we do today and in the future to create a world in which sustainability is the new normal?
“We all depend on the environment we live in. Making sustainability the norm starts with our everyday decisions – taking small, thoughtful actions that benefit our communities and the planet. From there, we can bring this mindset into our work by designing systems, incentives, and solutions that make responsible choices easier, more inclusive, and more rewarding for everyone. It is a long-term effort that many of us need to shape, but each step helps move us into the right direction.”
– Britta H., 42, Senior Project Manager
“Change starts small! If everyone does their bit in their everyday lives and reflects on their daily actions, we can make a big difference.”
– Imke K., 44 (Translated from German)
“Sustainability, CSR, ESG, purpose, diversity… So many buzzwords, yet they all echo long-standing values we’ve always known: respecting other viewpoints, acting with fairness and integrity, and being open and inclusive.
If we carry these principles in our daily lives—through both small gestures and big decisions—and remember that we are neither better nor worse than anyone else, that we don’t in principle deserve more or less than others, we can change the world.
And let’s also remember: our loved ones, our communities, those who think like us—they are not more deserving than others either. Everyone deserves a good life and a hopeful future. With this in mind, both as local and global community, we can support the fair revolution and change the world.”

“By decentralising – in other words, not focusing on our own needs, but seeing ourselves as the ‘need fulfilers’ of our direct and indirect environment.”
– Barbara M., Sustainability Officer (Translated from German)
“In a world where sustainability is the new normal, we
Embrace moderation: By limiting our consumption, resource use, and actions, we can create a more balanced and regenerative world. Let’s reduce excess and choose sufficiency to make way for a more sustainable future.
Take early action: Investing in prevention today can help us avoid disasters tomorrow. Let’s consider the needs of future generations and work towards a more just and equitable world.
Collaborate for a common goal: When governments, businesses, and citizens work together, we can achieve great things. By recognizing ecological limits and working together, we can create a better future for all. Let’s protect nature as a living source, not just a resource.
Foster a cultural shift: Sustainability is not just about technology or policy – it’s also about changing our culture and values. Let’s embed ecological thinking in education, media, and art, and develop long-term visions that go beyond short-term cycles.
By working together and making conscious choices, we can create a new normal that is characterized by respect for life and a deep connection to the natural world. Let’s shape a sustainable future together!”
